Four AI animated video ads made with Shhots AI, each a 2D illustrated character holding a real product: a radiance face oil dropper bottle, a chilled cola can, a jar of instant espresso and a hair serum bottle

AI Animated Ads: 2D Video Ads From Your Product Photo

Disclosure: Shhots AI is our product.

Animated video ads are live in the AI UGC ad generator on Shhots AI. Upload a product photo the way you already do, pick Animated instead of Human on the video style step, and get a 2D animated ad of up to 30 seconds, with your hook, your scene-by-scene script, and your closing CTA.

It is available today on every plan at app.shhots.ai, starting at $19/month. Nothing else about the workflow changes. The same product photo, the same controls, the same watermark-free download with a full commercial license.

Four ads made with it

Every ad below started as a product photo and a short script. No camera, no creator booking, no animator.

Two things to notice. The illustration style is not fixed: the face oil ad is flat vector, the hair serum ad is closer to hand-drawn character animation. And in all four, the product is still the product. The label text, the bottle shape, and the colour come from the photo you uploaded, not from a model’s guess at what your packaging looks like.

How it works

The workflow is the one you already use. Upload your product photos, and at the Video style step choose between two options.

The Video style step in the Shhots AI UGC ad generator, showing two cards side by side: Human, described as live-action creator, and Animated, described as 2D world real product, with Animated selected

Human gives you the live-action creator ads Shhots has always made: a photoreal avatar holding your product and talking to camera. Animated gives you the 2D version: an illustrated character, an illustrated world, and your real product inside it.

That single selection is the whole difference. Everything after it, the aspect ratio, the length, the script, the CTA, works exactly as it did before.

What you control

Three things shape the ad, and all three are yours to write.

The hook. The first two seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest. Write the opening line yourself, or test several versions of it against the same product and the same script.

The scene-by-scene script. Animated ads are built as a sequence of scenes, and you write what happens in each one. This is the part that matters most in a 30-second cut: which scene establishes the problem, which one shows the product doing its job, which one closes. You are directing the ad, not prompting for one.

The CTA. The closing line and the action you want. Keep it consistent across a batch so you are testing hooks rather than endings, or change it deliberately when the offer changes.

Why animated ads for ecommerce

Live-action UGC is still the default for most product categories, and it should be. Animation earns its place in four specific cases.

Products that are hard to film. Supplements, software, services, subscriptions, anything where there is nothing interesting to point a camera at. A 2D scene can show a benefit that does not exist as a physical object: an afternoon energy slump, a scalp condition, a checkout that finally works.

Before and after without a claim you cannot back. Illustration reads as illustration. A drawn character showing a rough morning and then a better one is understood as a scenario, not as a documented result, which is a cleaner place to be under Meta and TikTok ad policy than a photoreal before and after.

No likeness questions. There is no face in an animated ad that anyone could mistake for a real endorser. For brands in regulated categories, or teams that would rather not run a photoreal person at all, that removes a whole conversation.

A look you can keep. Once you find an illustration style that fits the brand, every ad in the batch shares it. Live-action creator ads vary by avatar. Animated ads can hold one visual world across a whole campaign.

Where animated does not win

Worth saying plainly, because it will save you a wasted batch.

Animation is not a substitute for a testimonial. The trust signal in UGC comes from looking like a real person filmed it on a real phone, and a drawn character does not carry that. If the ad’s job is social proof, use Human.

It also does not show texture. Fabric drape, the finish on a leather bag, how a lipstick actually sits on skin: those need live action or a product photoshoot. Animation abstracts detail by design, which is the point for some products and the wrong choice for others.

The useful way to run both: animated for the concept, the problem, and the mechanism, live-action for the proof. Most brands testing at volume will end up with a mix.

Pricing and availability

Animated ads are part of the AI UGC ad generator, so they are on every Shhots AI plan and draw from the same monthly credit pool as every other feature, priced by video length.

PlanPriceCredits
Starter$19/month2,000
Pro$49/month6,000
Scale$99/month12,000

Annual billing is $199, $499, and $999. Every plan ships watermark-free with a full commercial license, so the output goes straight to TikTok Ads Manager, Meta Ads Manager, YouTube, or your product page.

Get started

Open app.shhots.ai, start a UGC ad, upload your product photo, and pick Animated on the video style step. If you are new to the workflow, the AI UGC ads page walks through it end to end, and pricing has the plan comparison.

The rest of the studio works from the same product photo: the AI video generator for longer product films, the image ad generator for static creative, the URL to ad generator if you would rather paste a product page than upload a photo, and the video caption generator for burned-in subtitles.

FAQ

What is an AI animated ad?

An AI animated ad is a short video ad where the characters and the world are 2D animation rather than live action, and the product inside the scene is your real product. On Shhots AI you make one by uploading a product photo, choosing Animated on the video style step of the UGC ad generator, and writing the hook, scene-by-scene script, and CTA.

How do I make an animated ad on Shhots AI?

Upload your product photos, then pick Animated instead of Human at the video style step. That is the only extra selection. Write your hook, script, and CTA, choose the aspect ratio and length, and generate.

How long can an AI animated ad be?

Up to 30 seconds. Thirty seconds is enough for a full arc: the problem, the product doing its job, and the close. Shorter cuts remain the cheaper way to test hooks in volume.

Does the animated ad keep my product accurate?

Yes. That is the difference between this and a general-purpose animation tool. The world around the product is illustrated, but the product keeps the shape, colour, and label from the photo you uploaded, so what the viewer sees is what ships.

Can I control the script, hook, and CTA?

Yes. All three. The script is written scene by scene, so you decide what happens in each beat rather than describing the whole ad in one prompt and hoping.

What does an animated ad cost?

Animated ads draw from the same monthly credit pool as every other Shhots AI feature, priced by video length in the same way UGC ads are. Plans are $19/month for 2,000 credits, $49 for 6,000, and $99 for 12,000. There is no free tier, and no plan adds a watermark.

Should I use animated or human creator ads?

Use Human when the ad’s job is social proof or when texture matters, like fabric, finish, or how a product sits on skin. Use Animated for products that are hard to film, for problem and mechanism explanations, and when you want one consistent visual world across a campaign. Most brands testing at volume run both.

Can I run AI animated ads on TikTok and Meta?

Yes. Output is watermark-free with a full commercial license and exports in the standard placement ratios, so it uploads directly to TikTok Ads Manager and Meta Ads Manager. Follow each platform’s ad policies, and tag the ad as AI-generated where the platform asks.

Do I need animation or design skills?

No. There is no timeline, no keyframes, and no design tool. You write the hook, the scenes, and the CTA in text, and the ad renders from your product photo.
